A SETTING LIKE NO OTHER

Palmerston Etna is located in Sicily's northeastern corner, in one of the island's most fertile regions, Catania. The resort sits within a protected Natural Park in the midst of long established vineyards and groves of fragrant fruit and nut trees. This is an idyllic and tranquil setting, perfect for a short getaway. The coast is just a short drive and the gentle slopes of Etna are etched on the near horizon. The moods of the mountain change constantly and, even in spring, it can remain stubbornly capped with snow while the trees below are already heavy with blossom.

FIRST AND FOREMOST

No more dramatically beautiful setting could possibly be imagined for Sicily's first and finest golf course. What other course can boast a smoking volcano as its backdrop? The current 18 holes may be modest in length (just 5,800 meters in all) but they demand accuracy in driving, played as they are through mature trees and vineyards, and with the occasional lava flow adding an unexpected obstacle! It's a course sufficiently challenging to have attracted several international tournaments, including the Ladies' European tour event. The location, at 650 meters above sea level means the climate is perfect for all year round golf.  The temperature is appreciably cooler in the summer months and mild in winter.

BEYOND GOLF

Golf is not the only sport available to our guests.  In the local area there are plenty of opportunities for additional activities including trekking, mountain biking, rafting, horse riding and gorge walking.

Descending towards the sea a host of adventures await you, from excursions in a motorboat, catamaran or sail boat to whale watching and other marine activities.

Also waiting to be discovered are some of Sicily's finest producers of wine and local delicacies and delights.
