Sales, Marketing and Distribution
Any hotel or resort is dependent on the effectiveness of its local sales team and Palmerston therefore places emphasis on the appointment of the Sales & Marketing Director and the training of the sales team. Strong PR is an integral part of the sales and marketing process, which needs to commence a minimum of 12 months prior to opening.
Palmerston has established a strategic sales and marketing alliance with the Preferred Hotel Group, which gives our hotel and resort network strength in global distribution, reservation account management and global sales through 23 sales offices worldwide. In addition, Preferred undertakes global marketing programmes on behalf of the hotels, runs over 150 sales events each year at which hotels can participate and allows Palmerston guests to join the "I Prefer" Guest Benefit Programme and Frequent Flyer Programme rewards. Palmerston hotels also enjoy a preferred status with American Express Corporate Travel and pays lower commissions on guest card usage.
Palmerston works through various other sales and distribution channels:
- CCA and IAC for dBase marketing.
- Effective media campaign to FIT, high-end travel publications and lifestyle magazines through own efforts and the appointed PR Company.
- Strategic alliances with Premium FIT organisations.
- Hotel internet online reservations.
- Local Tourist Boards and/ or Authorities.
Strategic Alliances
Palmerston embraces the practice of forging strategic alliances with select quality organisations, thus creating high value relationships for our brand and our partners. This strategy compliments Palmerston's strength by enabling the delivery of a total hospitality management solution that is cost effective and efficient in today's market place.
Examples of such alliances are the CCA , IAC , the Preferred Hotel Group , the Faldo Golf Institute and Temple Spa .
Information Technology and Management Information Systems
Palmerston uses one Financial and MIS platform, which builds on a unique integration platform incorporating Navision and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. The controls of the revenue, expenditure and inventory cycles are therefore seamless and provide efficient management data for forecasting, budgeting and reporting.
Standard Operational Procedures
Palmerston has developed a full set of operational manuals covering all
aspects of hotel management. This includes graphical guidelines,
pre-opening and ongoing operational standards. The procedures are
customised when the respective hotel or resort is in operation to
better reflect local culture and business requirements. Our service and
quality standards do not change and are the common denominator for the
brand.
